Fianyarr Class: Priest

Campaign World: Fianyarr.

Purpose: In every society there are those who are charged with answering those philosophical and spiritual questions that provide the glue for societies.  Why are we here?  Who should we strive to be?  What happens to us after we die?  Some priests seek to soothe the fears and worries of those around them and others seek to inflame those fears to motivate others to behave according to the ideals of their religion (or to massage their own egos).

The priests of Fianyarr may differ in a number of different respects but they all have a few main principles in common.  Each religion believes that priests must not use bladed weapons and that the priests should be capable of dealing with the ethereal adversaries that plague the land - from unquiet shades to spirits from across the gauntlet.  Therefore each religion ensures that certain rituals and magical spells are taught to its members so that they might be ready to deal with such incursions when they occur.

Blessing of the Staff

Riddleseekers: All priests are taught the fundamental aspects of riddles and all are asked to specialise in one form of riddle or another and thus gain a free specialty in Riddles.  The priest may also spend a point of Glamour to gain a +2 bonus to all Wits rolls (except for Perception) for a single scene.  Changeling Riddleseeker Kith: Night Horrors: Grim Fears page 102.

Chirurgeon: Priests are asked to study the healing arts and even those who have no skill with it still have some hidden knack.  All priests gain a 9-Again on their Medicine rolls and don't have to suffer equipment penalties when they are making such rolls.  Changeling Chirurgeon Kith: Winter Masques page 93.

Antiquarian: Priests are quite a well-studied group and are trained to cope with understanding quite a bit of information.  The character gains a 9-Again on both Academics and Investigation rolls.  Changeling Winter Masques Kith: core rulebook 68.

Oracle: Priests are trained to understand the ebb and flow of the world around them on an intuitive level.  The character can tell the future in the same sort of vague terms that the Common Sense merit might produce though with information they have yet to procure.  Changeling Oracle Kith: core rulebook page 118.

Telluric: Priests are taught about the stars and their patterns across the sky and this gives them a free astronomy specialty in Academics and an astrology specialty in Occult.  Not only this but they are rigorously trained to understand how long it takes for time to pass due to the many ceremonies that divide their day (and the lack of forewarning of these ceremonies as they are simply expected to attend).  This means that they always know what time it is and gain a +3 bonus on situations that require precise timing.  Changeling Winter Masques Kith: core rulebook 84.

Class Restricted Mechanics

Taboo: They may not use bladed weapons.  They take a -2 social penalty to all ephemeral entities for 24 hours after they use a bladed weapon in combat or in the hunt.
